    MS TimerShot: Can it hide?

    Hi all. I like using timershot with my webcam, but would like for it to be totally hidden from all eyes. You can manually start it and then minimize it to run unobtrusively in the taskbar. You can obviously also drop it into the Start menu to run when Windows starts, but when it does so, the webcam image appears big as life right on the screen, alerting all users that they are being watched. Ethical questions of doing this aside, could anyone tell me how to launch the app totally hidden, and keep it that way, or do you know of another app that can do so? Thanks!

    I've only scanned that site, but it looks VERY intriguing. THX!

    Egghead: I agree with disabling the cams - to protect against bad people like me. But, then again, a video of me would be pretty damn boring.

    timershot hide

    Although it would show up in task manager. It is not common place to go directly into task manager after a start up to check any discrepencies. Nor do most people know what half the items in there are or what they do. So I dont care about that part. I just want it to hide itself so when someone other then me starts the program I can moniter what they do in my room. I already have a key logger and other programs to see what they do on my computer. So anybody know how? Thanks again.

    Try uninstalling and then disable any AV or or software that might interfere with the installation.

    Then reinstall it.

    Well I can uninstall things but I cant reinstall. I tried disabling everything except what is needed to run with no luck. And the only information I could find said to reformat. But I was hoping to avoid that.

    One more idea....

    Hide Notification Area....

    To hide the notification area for the current user:

    1. Start the Registry Editor
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
    3. Right-click an empty space in the right pane and select New > DWORD Value
    4. Name the new value NoTrayItemsDisplay
    5. Double-click the value NoTrayItemsDisplay and change the Value data to 1
    6. Close the registry editor
    7. Log off, or restart Windows for the changes to take effect

    Only the time & date will still be displayed. To reverse, change the value of NoTrayItemsDisplay to 0, or delete it.

    To hide the notification area for all users repeat these steps under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

    In Windows XP Professional, you can also accomplish the above using Group Policy Editor.

    1. Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC
    2. Navigate to this path:
    => User Configuration
    ==> Administrative Templates
    ===> Start Menu and Taskbar
    3. Set "Hide the notification area" to Enabled
