tarun, could this be related to the missing hard drive icon problem you had?
Maybe a style issue.
Are you using a default Windows XP theme?
Don't think so...Originally Posted by Reverend

I tried the registry fix and replacing infs as per this guide, but it didn't work.
Does this mean I should simply reinstall XP SP2 to repair IE 6?
Will this work with separate windows xp and sp2 cds?

Create a new user account and see if the same problem exists there.
If yes then reinstall...

Do u require IE? I think u should be able to download IE6 from M$, then update with online updates... But, ur SP2 idea should work as well
Are you able to press ctrl+tab?? (thats the manual way of switching between option tabs)

I'm able to press CTRL+TAB but not view any other IE tabs. Also have a control panel icon problem (persists even after SP2 reinstall).
I've tried using TweakXP but couldn't rectify anything.
I uninstalled SP2, performed 'sfc /scannow' with the Windows XP CD and then reinstalled SP2. Still the same.
I could only change the homepage via the registry.
Update: Installed IE 7 Beta 3. No problems now.
