Outlook 2000 Leaves Blank Task Bar Button When Exiting

Word 2000 is the editor my Outlook 2000 uses to edit my e-mail. When I close/exit e-mail, the task bar button that had the e-mail/active folder name on it goes blank, but remains in the task bar. Right-clicking on it yields nothing, left-clicking on it makes it disappear. What's keeping the blank button in the task bar?

Do you have a screenshot of this behavior? Seeing it I or someone else may be able to help.

What Windows version are you running? I ask because I have seen this issue running Win 98 and Win ME and it was fixed by running a thorough scandisk...

    Operating System:

My system is a white box PC with an Intel PIII Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 processor, 384mb RAM, Windows 98 SE, Microsoft Office 2000. I'm using Outlook 2000 (NOT Outlook Express), which uses my Word 2000 as the email editor.

The blank button comes and goes. Next time it leaves itself in the task bar, I'll try to remember to get a screen shot to send along.

Thorough scandisk, huh? I'll try that .. haven't done that in a while now.

Thanks for the replies, guys ..

Have you run any updates to the Office 2000 suite?

Also, when did this behavior start occurring? Was it recently, perhaps after a software change? Or has it been from the beginning?
