    What's your favorite Operating System?

If you aren't a gamer, Windows? Linux? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

    Veronica,

The first question has to be, "What do you want to do with your computer?" If the answer includes playing modern 3d video games, Windows is your only choice. If you are not a gamer you have numerous choices. Mine is Xandros Linux. It is a distribution that xp users will feel comfortable using.

Windows XP for it's stability, incredible portfolio of entertainment games and software choices available. and because I can turn it into a complete digital audio workstation for my home studio recording projects.

    Turned into a poll

Besides all the viruses flying around (but most arent targeting the actual o/s) XP SP2 is very rock solid and with simple add-ons, you can get the vista look with great extra functionality!

    I'm not a gamer.

Does Xandros have a similar GUI to Windows XP?

I read that Linux is more stable because it doesn't have a Registry.... It doesn't corrupt like windows because installing software doesn't change Linux's operating system, unlike Windows. When I change something on Windows, 25% of the time some other setting changes.

    Thank you all for replying.

Dell PC's used to be shipped with Vista Basic & a free upgrade to the Premium version. Now, the Premium version costs an extra $30. I don't think I want Vista with all the bad things I read about it. Charging $30 more for something that is buggy & used to come with the purchase of the Dell PC is like putting salt in the wound.

I like Macs just for the 'clean' interface. Much better than Windows IMHO.

I like XP for the range of options. I can go to a store and I will find without a doubt an application or piece of hardware I can put in my PC.

I changed my vote to Vista. I think it's even more stable than XP.
