World of Warcraft Issues..of course :/

hi. is this odd to anyone else?

    ok my setup is :

    amd 64 3500+
    geforce 7600 GT (new drivers)
    2 gb ram
    windows vista home premium (64bit)

wow resolution is 1280x1024 FPS is low in town 10-15, out of town 20-30..in a building 30-40.

    my friends:

    core 2 duo
geforce 7300 LE (standard vista drivers for that card)
    2 gb ram
    vista home premium (32 bit)

he runs resolution in wow 1152x864 and get 40-50 FPS pretty much anywhere..

the systems are that much different to yield such different results?

i have a better graphics card and drivers..shouldnt i be getting better or at least the same performance?

any ideas would be great. thank you.

WoW is different beast altogether, with many factors determining overall performance.

Network (internet) speed, CPU, O/S and drivers etc...

Why are u running 64bit Vista instead of 32bit? Also, the core2duo is lots lots better cpu, and the Vista 32bit is well rounded.

Do you have the correct 64bit drivers for your sound and video cards? Also, the increase in your resolution (even 1 step above) is a big hit on the Graphics card load, needing an extra 100mb of memory or so. Try lowering the spec down to 1152x864

Yeah, i was just trying out 64bit version. i will install the 32 version.

But for gaming i mainly use Xp right now. I guess my thread was kinda comparing lemons and apples (or w/e)

    Thx for the comment.

No probs Beebster... i know it can be frustrating when games dont run smoothly...

But keep us posted if when you go back to XP or at least vista 32bit, you still get slow performance.
