    Running XP on two computers

I have Windows XP installed on my PC, which came together.
I've recently bought an old(ish) laptop with nothing on it, but said it was suitable for windows XP. I installed my XP from the PC on the laptop ok & ignored for the time being the request to register this windows XP with Microsoft. Now it won't work...! I've called a number to Query/register it but they've told me that the windows XP i have on my PC can only be used on that PC.

Is there a way round this?

    FFS!!!!!

Linux this, Linux that, Linux the other,.......

    I'm baffled!

Firstly,.... Linux is a complete operating system, isn't it? I mean i can completely remove Windows XP can't I?

    Right.......

Where can i download a normal version of it? It doesn't seem as straight forward as i'd hoped.

    HELP!!!!

my brother was forced to run linux for the same reason. He went with Ubuntu because he likes it difficult. Anyhow, he got wine working on Ubuntu and runs several Windows programs in it, and so far he has been using linux as his main machine for 6 months
