My Enermax Power Supply Got Burned!
I have no idea how this happened, when I got home earlier today my PC wouldn't start from the power button. I removed the plug from the UPS and plugged it into the AVR. I heard a certain sound and then the fuse of the AVR blew. I tried plugging it straight now into the wall socket and I heard another weird sound like sparks flying. I check the power supply and it faintly but surely smelled burned. It was an Enermax 420 watt power supply which was about 3 years old.
I went out and bought an HEC 550W power supply since the old one that I used before is working flawlessly in my dad's PC (more than 5 years). Good thing nothing else got damaged except the power supply. I'm not going to buy another Enermax from now on.

I've never had a problem with Enermax.

What hardware were you running with it?
Did you regularly clean it (fans, transformers, etc)?

Same hardware in my Sig. Nope I didn't clean the power supply as I don't want to open it up. And this all happened when my PC was off. Didn't use it for two days then when I came back to my parents' house this was the result.

You're lucky, someone just brought in a PC and the PS (AntecTrue power) smoked his CPU, ram and MB.

A major part of my new PC budget went to getting a decent PSU... wanted a antec TruPower 3 trio 550W... but settled for a coolermaster realpower pro 550W ... they support SLI and excellent current regulation. Plus blue LED matches the other glowing fans... (not that i like that, but standard fitments are ok).
