if not mistaken video files can be converted to an mp3 but they start out as another such as mpeg.

I dont think MP3 can be used as video.. most times, Video formats use MP3 as the audio component.

MP3 is an audio codec. It won't work on video.

As cash site says, you can use mp3 to encode the audio portion of a movie.

That is a good link Piper, but i think a little confusing...
If convert SVCD TO MP3, VCD1.1 TO MP3, VOB(not encrypted) to MP3, please install a DVD player such as WinDVD Player, Or PowerDVD Player which includes related MPEG1 decoder, MPEG2 decoder, DVD decoder
As they mention all the video decoders...

So, i think this is still up in the air, and will need to be trialled... I guess it comes down, why u actually need Video as MP3 format?

Because I think it would be cool if GPS would play video files.

Mp3 (or rather Mpeg 1, Audio layer 3, as is the proper name), simply does not have a provision for video.

Even if you did manage to cram video into a mp3 file, the decoder wouldn't have any way of recreating video from the contents. At best, you would get some bizarre sounds out of it

Ahh.. i understand you know.. my GPS only plays audio too... 4.3" widescreen would be an awesome video player.

Hmm.. i think your best bet might be to find some hombrew firmware that actually added video support or at least allowed 3rd party apps...

What is your GPS brand etc? LOL... else you could sell it and get an iTouch
