    Unhappy Hackers

    Hi

I'm a member of another site that uses discussion forums like this.

I just went onto that site and instead of the usual threads etc is a gigantic message that says: HACKED BY XXXX.

Will this adversely affect me in any way?

    Thanks.

    The discussion forum in www.?????.co.uk

I rung hitched and they said it wouldn't affect the users, but then would they tell me if it did?

    Hi

I could not get your discusion forum. I was redirected to a page that said HACKED. You should tell the webmaster at hitched. Tell who ever hosts the hackers page.

    Just My Opinion.

    Hi

[1] They should break the thingy that redirects your traffic.

[2] You mean Viruses? It would have set off someone on this threads Antivirus.

The hacker 'Page Jacked' you. You should tell his server on HIS site. They will probably shut him down.

    -Just My Opinion -Take care

    Please don't click the link!

Lou please edit it out, perhaps a MOD will do it soon.

A website is usually hacked for a couple of reason, 1) simply to deface (like this scenario) 2) to load malware, virus, trojan, spyware, spam, all the nasties, so when anyone goes to click on the link and load the page they can get SILENTLY infected, and you wouldn't even know!!

Responsible & Safe Internet browsing means you don't go to dodgy websites, or click on unknown links!

    Be Safe

If it's hacked - stay away. Don't view it with IE. Disable javascript an any browser you use. Install the latest Java RTE and UNINSTALL any previous versions. Maintain your antivirus application and run a good personal firewall product. And hang out at this Forum web site.

Many thanks to egghead for the cool .sig

BTW, I checked out the hacked site before the link was removed, there wasn't anything other than the site was defaced.

A hacked forum does't affect the member in any way whatsoever. Unless you actually fall in the trap, I suggest you don't visit that site until it gets restablished by the admin.
