Also don't forget distro forums. They can be a good source for info including drivers.

Linux Mint Debian Edition
....and I thought it was hard getting drivers for Vista! This is harder.
Thank you all very much.
Well put. Hence Windows and Mac OSX have better peripheral support. Manufacturers will develop drivers for supported operating systems - especially those installed on computers offered by other large manufacturers (DELL, HP, etc...). While DELL and others are selling PCs with Linux installed, the numbers of units sold don't even compare to the sales figures for Windowed systems. Until Linux can establish itself as a truly marketable product, driver support will always fall behind.
Many thanks to egghead for the cool .sig
But...don't think it isn't worth trying. Regardless of the downfalls, pitfalls, learning curves, it is worth a shot. If for nothing else it increases your computing abilities and expands both your mind and experience.
I don't think any of those things are any good to anyone, and most of them are just nonsense. I can outtrump them all the other way around easily - why is windoze better
1. You can play all the latest games.
2. Any bit of hardware I buy will have Windoze drivers with it.
3. Stuff (in general) is made for Windoze not Linux.
Let's keep it real.
I'm using Windows 7 - you got a problem with that?
