My PC's Christmas Present? Memory!

I have bought my PC 2 X 1GB of memory to replace the existing 256 and 512mb. Can't fit it until Santa has visited, obviously, but are there any settings that I should alter within XP to optimise the use of the memory once its fitted?

While not new, the XP2400 is a capable cpu. Every motherboard that I have seen for XP-CPUs can easily handle 2GB of memory. You should not have any problems at all. Just install and turn on your computer.

Check the motherboard for Dual Channel configuration settings (not sure if XP2400 supported it or not)... Ensure the Memory Speed at least matches the CPU FSB (or better)...

There are some XP Registry tweaks to better use large memory configurations, but not sure of the stability impact, FG should give some good insight.
