Crackling sound on laptop Linux Mint XP dual boot

    Hello!

I have Mint dual boot on an X60 IMB (xp pro). I was wondering why the sound is so much better using Mint. On XP the sound distorts (crackling sound).

This is my first experience with Linux and...I kinda I like it.

Dependent on the drivers installed on the O/S, they might have better EQ settings or perform within the performance envelope of the speakers... i.e not trying to be too loud causing distortion.

I agree that Mint is a good choice for first time Linux users. I am using it on one of my four machines. I agree that sound is good. My biggest complaint is with video card drivers. Google Earth is full of artifacts with Mint.

I see that BB is still listed as top poster on the new front page We need one of his DB pruning to cut it back...haha!

Back on Topic, there seems to be quite a few hits on this thread... what info do people want from it? I.e. Is there a big problem in trying to get Sound working on Mint Linux installed on certain laptops??

Could have left it as it was. More hits is a good thing.

Haha Rev, always the sales man.

@Rik, I think Usergame was saying that the sounds was better on Linux Mint compared to XP... else we could just close the thread, or leave it for Hi0Jacking...

    How's Pia doing?
