Quick question: Is there any qualitative difference in laptops from brand to brand, or is it just a question of who's got the most bang per buck at the moment? What about tech support?
Fr'instance: Is any company noted for most/least amount of crap to go through to get hardware or OEM software issues resolved?
Tech support is why I have a cell plan with rollover minutes.

Not that there is a definitive list, but I would say Yes different brand have different levels of Service, Quality and amount of Pre-installed CrapWare.
It comes down to word of mouth, forum searches and complaint history.
Generally though, it comes down to your Budget and typical usage AND any styling you might be after.
How did you find your dell when u first go it? What have you needed to change to make it your 'own'?
