can't use java ps3 media server...... [FIXED]

i've just upgraded to VM's 50Meg service with a netgear WNR2000 wireless router.

when i had my old belkin wireless router in,i could run java ps3 media server (PMS) fine.
i could stream all my movies from the machine upstairs to the tv downstairs via the ps3.

    problem is now,
    via the netgear wnr200 wireless router,i can't.
the machine upstairs won't see the ps3 and the ps3 won't see the machine upstairs.
BTW,yes i do a an "N" series dongle in the machine upstairs.

i've tried everything, port forwarding, turning off the routers firewall and so on.

i'm tempted to plug the belkin back in just to make sure it all still works as it did before.

any of you guys any ideas as to why i can't use PMS via the new router?

    TIA.

    ill be back soon,
    just watching some paint dry.

Search indicated this is not an unusual problem. Even though you stated that you had tried port forwarding, I believe it is the solution to your problem. Try info found here.

    ok then......
after spending near all day trying to sort this,it's finally done!

    thanks for the link efc.
though, that did'nt turn out to be the problem.
at least now though, all my devices all have their own static ip's,cheers.

i even installed PMS on my other laptop, that worked fine without having to do any port forwarding.

so,i decided to uninstall java 6 update and reinstalled it!

i think that that must have been the problem.

if not,it's working and that's all that matters.

    thanks again efc.

    ill be back soon,
    just watching some paint dry.
