    Resolution differences..Vists vs. Win7

I have Vista Ultimate installed on one hard drive, and Win 7 on another hard drive. I have a Nividia video card. I have the resolution set to 1024 X 768 on the Vista hard drive and I like the looks. If I set the resolution to the same number 1024 X 768 on the Win 7 hard drive, it looks very different. I have to set it at 1280 X 800 to look similar to the Vista. Why is this ??? I am running IE7 on the Vista HD, and IE8 on the Win7 HD. is this causing the difference ?
I would like to upgrade my Vista to IE8, but not if I can't keep the same look.
I have the same current driver for the Nividia card on both OS's The monitor is a Hanns-G, HW191D, 19" wide screen, and the driver for that is just a generic Microsoft one. Suggestions, please. Mike

might like to check the font DPI settings... i.e might be 96dpi for Vista while 'large' or 120 dpi for W7 (or whatever they calll it)...

but I do remember that 800x600 was ok on XP, but same resolution on Vista and i couldn't see the top of the Start menu!!

    Control Panel > Personalization.

Click on the 'Adjust font size (DPI)' link in the left hand pane.

Hi Mike, answering some more of your questions:
    1. You should be able to upgrade IE7 to IE8 on your Vista HD. It should not have any problems.
    2. For your W7 HD, ensure you have the latest Drivers from NVIDIA CLICK HERE TO CHECK - 190.38 (32bit)
    3. The default Microsoft LCD Monitor driver shouldn't be a problem.
    Goodluck!
