Seagate Launches High-End Barracuda XT Drive
Interested in pure, raw, storage performance? Seagate's Barracuda XT, a 3.5-inch desktop hard drive that the company touts as one of the first drives to use the 6-Gbits/s SATA interface, might just fill the bill.
The Barracuda XT holds up to 2 terabytes of capacity, spins at 7,200 RPM, includes a 64 Mbytes of cache, and uses the new interface. It also goes on sale today on Monday in North America, for $299.
Not surprisingly, the drive is designed for high-performance enthusiasts or professional artists involved in content creation or even just a high-end media PC, according to David Burks, the director of product marketing for Seagate's Barracuda line.
