In news that is making gamers weep with joy, Sony Thursday said its new PS3 console with Motion Controller will hit store shelves this coming spring along with a slew of new game titles that are compatible with the release.

After dropping hints of its plans, the entertainment giant is now providing more details. The tentatively named Motion Controller feature has two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope and three axes accelerometer that can detect the controller's angle and movement held in the user's hand.

The integrated PlayStation Eye camera tracks the position of the controller so that the controller can detect the natural and intuitive movement of the hand which reflects precise movements on to the game.

A sphere which sits on the top of the controller not only tracks the absolute position but also provides visual feedback to users by changing the colors or the illuminating patterns of the sphere.
