Sony issued a recall for some AC adapters used with all-in-one Vaio PCs and docking stations as they pose the risk of causing electric shock, the company said.

Sony issued the voluntary recall working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which said insulation inside the products could fail over time, causing the electric shock risk. Sony has received some reports of the adapters short circuiting, though no injuries have been reported, CPSC said.

Sony is recalling AC adapters with the model number VGP-AC19V17, which were supplied with the all-in-one Vaio PCs belonging to the VGC-LT, VGC-JS240, VGC-JS250, VGC-JS270, and VGC-JS290 series. The company also recalled power adapters under the same model number that were supplied with Vaio VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1 docking stations.

The products were sold at Sony's Web site and at retailers between September 2005 and October 2009.
