Smile Internet connection not working because of the ethernet port not lighting up

Hello, I might think that this thread has already shown, but I need help. I really don't know how this works. My ethernet cable does not glow when pluggled in. My computer had a virus recently and it blocked the internet, but now the virus is out, but i can't use the internet. I believe it is the ethernet because it does not glow and because in the modem it does not show as connected. Its not the cable because it works with other computers. Can you please help me. Thank You

First of all, welcome to TZ. We will be happy to tray to help, but first I will ask a few questions to try to narrow down the question.

    1. Which operating system are you using?
    2. Does your ethernet connection go from modem to computer or are you using a router between them?
    3. Have you tried another ethernet cable to make sure that your cable is good?
    Linux Mint Debian Edition
