Publisher 2K will release a new, single-player game mode for the first-person shooter BioShock 2 on August 3.

The DLC, titled Protector Trials, will sell for $4.99 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Roaming the underwater world of Rapture as a Big Daddy, players must protect a Little Sister from hordes of enemy Splicers.

Players will have six maps to choose from, three difficulty levels and fresh achievements/trophies. The DLC will also feature new unlockable items such as concept art and videos.

2K says more single-player content focused on the game's narrative will be released in the coming months.
