MS Word '07 starts automatically (virus/malware?)

MS Word '07 opens automatically when I'm doing something else and this dialog box pops up within Word.

Edit: It also appears like its trying to open web pages and opens a box saying 'unable to open document'.

The free versions of Avira PE, Avast and SuperAntiSpyware detect nothing.

I suspect it was due to a unintended choice during installation or use. My suggestion to solve problem is to download and install a "start manager program" like "Startup CPL 2.8". With it you can see which software is loading when Windows starts. You can make changes with a mouse click. If your problem persists after trying this, let us know so we can dig deeper.

    Try this repair option:

    1. Open Word and click the Open folder (Office Button, Open)
    2. Browse to the location where the file is located and select the file
    3. Click the down arrow next to the Open button in the dialog box and select "Open and Repair"

Are you subscribed to any rss news feeds? That error looks like its related to a webpage parsing error.

Also check the Startup folder in the Programs list on the Start Menu and delete anything referencing Word.
