Laptop won't start, nor will desktop

    Hello

I'm not having very good times with my computers at the moment:

    1. Laptop
I try and switch it on. The green light flashes and it sounds as if it's about to come on, but nothing happens. It doesn't even get to the Dell insignia. I can't hear the beeps or anything, just sounds like a fan. Sometimes it sounds as if it's rebooting, but nothing happens. It's a Dell Latitude 630.

    2. Desktop
I hadn't used this in a while, so went to use it yesterday. It won't start. The monitor comes on, but not the CPU. I changed the fuse on the plug, but it still won't work. No lights, no sound, nothing. It's a Dell Dimension 3000.

Any/lots of advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Motherboard battery may be dead if its been left turned off for a long time.

Thanks Reverend. Motherboard battery being dead: is that serious or is it a 'simple' fix.

    Thank you.

It's fairly straight forward fix to replace the battery, as long as you are confident opening up the case and know your way around components.

    Service manual here (click battery)
