BT unveils next 73 locations to receive superfast broadband boost
BT has unveiled another 73 towns and cities that will be able to access superfast broadband services by spring 2013, as part of its 2.5bn pound rollout across the UK.
The rollouts will take place in locations including Glasgow, Swansea and Wolverhampton, with some 700,000 homes and businesses to be passed by the new services, as the firm aims to provide at least two-thirds of the nation with the ability to access its network.
The upgrades will be a mixture of both fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) and fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) deployments, with speeds ranging from 40Mbit/s to 110Mbit/s.
BT has also touted possible connections of 300Mbit/s that are currently being trialled in six locations.
BT said the next stage of the rollouts meant it is now well on its way to completing its target of reaching the majority of the nation with its improved services.
