Amazon has launched a version of its MP3 store geared specifically toward Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch that allows users to buy their music from Amazon on their devices and then access it anywhere. Ian Sherr reports on digits.

Through Amazon's MP3 mobile website for iPhones and iPod Touches, users can make purchases directly from www.amazon.com/mp3 on these devices for the first time.

"Since the launch of the Amazon Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod Touch, a top request from customers has been the ability to buy music from Amazon right from their devices," said Steve Boom, vice president of Amazon Music. "For the first time ever, iOS users have a way do that—now they can access Amazon's huge catalog of music, features like personalized recommendations....They can buy their music once and use it everywhere."

Music purchases are now automatically saved to customers' Cloud Player libraries and can be downloaded or played instantly from any iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Kindle Fire, Android phone or tablet, Roku, Sonos home entertainment system, or any Web browser.

Amazon's MP3 store currently has more than 22 million songs in the U.S. and more than 29 million world-wide.
