Samsung has officially confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini after accidentally revealing the existence of the device on its official UK website earlier this week.

The handset is a smaller version of the Korean manufacturer’s Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship device and promises to deliver the performance, usability and design of the S4 in a more compact 4.3-inch package.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is powered by a 1.7GHz dual core processor, compared to the 1.9GHz quad-core or 1.6GHz octa-core chips of its bigger brother, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and 1.5GB of RAM. It will ship with 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded by up to 64GB through a MicroSD card slot.

Many Galaxy S4 features such as Group Play and S Translator are included, as are many of the imaging options such as sound and shoot, and story albums.

“Demand for the Galaxy S4 has been phenomenal since it launched in April and we hope to build on this success with the Galaxy S4 Mini,” said Simon Stanford, vice president of the IT and mobile division at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland. “This new handset is the ideal smartphone companion for anyone who wants a compact device packed with innovation.”
