Samsung is expected to unveil its flagship device, the Galaxy S5, at its "Unpacked 5" event on Monday Feb. 24 in Barcelona, Spain. The event is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Bloomberg is reporting the new high-end smartphone will have a larger, sharper 5.2-inch display and will be released before April.

Unnamed sources also told Bloomberg the device may be cheaper than previous models and will have an improved battery and camera.

Samsung mobile chief Lee Young Hee told Bloomberg in January that the Galaxy S5 will represent a greater jump compared to the shift from the S3 to the S4.

Hee said the company was studying the inclusion of an eye scanner in its smartphones, but wouldn't confirm whether or not that will be a feature in the S5.

"For the S5, we will go back to the basics," Hee told Bloomberg. "Mostly, it's about the display and the feel of the cover."

During its event at Mobile World Congress last year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4. Samsung also debuted its Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Galaxy Note 3 phablet at an Unpacked event in the fall.

Samsung is expected to pair the S5 with a new wearable device that will be an evolution of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Hee told Bloomberg.
