Samsung on Thursday announced that the first tablets in its new flagship Galaxy Tab S line will hit store shelves the U.S. next week. The Galaxy Tab S will be available on June 27 at Amazon, Best Buy, Sears, and other retailers in addition to Samsung.com.

The 8.4-inch Wi-Fi Tab S is priced at $399.99 while the 10.5-inch version will set you back $499.99. Both models come in either "dazzling white" or "titanium bronze."

Pre-orders kicked off last week on Samsung's website. Later this year, the LTE version will arrive on Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

Running Android 4.4, Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S models are thinner than the iPad Air with a 2,560-by-1,600 Super AMOLED display.

The 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch versions include an 8-megapixel main camera with LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel shooter on the front along with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD slot supporting 128GB cards. They measure 6.6mm thin and the 8.4-inch version weighs less than a pound, making it Samsung's thinnest and lightest tablet yet.

Other features include Kids Mode for easy access to kid-friendly content; a built-in fingerprint scanner for logging in and making PayPal payments; Multi Windows, which lets you open two windows at once; and SideSync for making and receiving calls from your tablet. It also comes with a slew of goodies, including one year of free Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi access and a three-month subscription to Audible.
