First announced at CES in January, PlayStation Now delivers games to PlayStation consoles with no discs or downloading required. Since January, PS Now has been in private beta for select gamers across the country, a program that expanded in May. Now, the beta is available to everyone in the U.S. and Canada.

As part of this open beta, PS4 users will see a library of more than 1,000 PS Now titles available for rent in the PlayStation Store. The rental period will vary by game — either 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or just 4 hours so you can "sample the experience."

"With a strong and stable broadband connection, visual and gameplay quality will be much like what you're used to with other PS3 games," Sony said.

PS Now will feature cloud game saves and support for Trophies, friend lists, and leaderboards. You'll also be able to play online with other PS Now users, as well as those who have the downloadable or disc-based versions of the game.

Sony asked beta testers to provide feedback about the service.

"Since we're still in Beta, and in the very early days of PS Now, we plan to continue to collect feedback during this Open Beta phase to make further refinements to the service," the company said.

One thing many users are apparently asking for — a PS Now subscription option. Sony said it has heard the requests "loud and clear," and is working on it.
