Are you doing a reinstall of Windows XP or is this a new install?

    Try this.

    1) pop the XP CD into the CD-Rom and remember your CD-Rom drive letter

    2) Go to Start->Run and type as follows (substitute your CD-Rom drive
    letter for "X")

    EXPAND X:\i386\SPTIP.DL C:\SPTIP.DLL

    3) Now you can copy the file to the directory that is needed .. or at
least tell the install program where the file is located.

    Hope this helps

    Try Richards suggestion.If that fails
go to Start > Run. Type in sfc /scannow and hit enter. (remember to leave a space between sfc and / )
You'll need to pop your XP CD in during the scan.

    SPTIP. dll.

No luck with the Rev's suggestion either. Also forgot to mention that I'm trying to do this new install over win Me.
