win xp sp2
Just joined your forum, have browsed it several times and have gotten some very good info!!! Have a question that hope someone will be able to answer for me. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know of a site that will allow me to download the SP2 update to win XP and save it to disk rather that automatically open it. I want to update my version and also a friends who has a dial up connection. I have a cable modem so can get it much faster.

Welcome to Techzonez.
I presume you mean XP SP1,as SP2 has not been released yet.
You need to download the Network install version which will allow you to save it disk.
The full download is here; XP SP1 (134mb)

Thanks to you too, Tinker, and another quick question, I understand that there is a "fix" out for SP1. Is this fix included in the download from microsoft or does it need to be downloaded separtely?

I have not heard of a "fix" for SP1. There are however updates since SP1 that have come out. After installing SP1 you can go to the Windows update site and it will recommend the updates.....

oldsarge, there was a security fix for XP SP1 released a few days ago.
You need to install this fix after installing the service pack. (M$ forgot to include it in the SP1)
