    http://www.sms-messaging-software.com/

With that software, some webspace or directly from your desktop, and an internet connection you can set up your own SMS gateway.

    About the software:
PageGate, SMS messaging gateway software that sends SMS messages to mobiles or other wireless devices through any combination of 6 different interfaces. Messages can be sent from email, web pages, desktops on a network, a serial port, within other programs or by taking them in via a TAP interface. Create a SMS gateway and send SMS messages free through the Internet.

Download the PageGate SMS messaging software.

Hope that helps and welcome to Techzonez.

ALternatively you can do SMS through ICQ, which is a free application.

but I think so easy isn't.......

because ....when I send it through the internet I need a remote server that get the SMS from me......a sms provider or a GSM provider.....

I think I need a GSM modem that connect a GSM provider.......

    ?!!?!?

    or I am wrong??!??!

    any sugestions?

I think if you sign up with that company and pay for that software you use their servers and their modems to send the messages, thus reducing your overall cost.

If you want to truly set it up from the ground up, and like run your own business, I can look into the hardware required, and the cost associated with it.

I was looking at the cheapest way to set it up without getting into the nitty gritty of buying the hardware.

Based on the information contained in that link, it would appear that SMS is supported through email. In terms of hardware, I don't see where they discuss that, so you may be right. However, if you need more clarification, simply contact them:
    mailto:webmaster@sms-messaging-software.com

Further if you read that page:
    http://www.sms-messaging-software.co...ging-works.htm

It shows exactly how the SMS messaging software works with their pagegate messaging. I used that to base the assumption that they offered the gateway as part of the cost of the SMS software packages.

In terms of their pricing, it would seem ridiculous to pay the prices that they offer if you have to buy the hardware as well:

    http://www.sms-messaging-software.co...ng-pricing.htm

But it is possible that indeed you have to setup your own hardware and if that is so, you should use open source software:
That is where SMSlink comes into play.
    THE HARDWARE SUPPORTED:
    http://smslink.sourceforge.net/hardware.html
that link also has a link in it showing where to purchase some of that hardware.

    http://smslink.sourceforge.net/

That link above is the homepage for SMSlink that tells more information than I could possibly type. Have a read, I think you might find it useful.

Glad to help where I can. Let us know how you get on with your SMS project. It is an interesting adventure to say the least and I am sure there are other users out there who would appreciate the knowledge of setting this up, either way you go.

You must also realise though that not all Network Operators will allow SMS from "unauthorised" sources

Orange in the UK for example have blocked ICQ sms messages and many others

    Personally I would recommend

    Thanks

This quote comes from a chat you were having a few years ago. I'm currently looking at setting up an SMS Gateway from the ground up so I can start an date reminder service. The plan is to have a web site that people register on and pay a minimal handling fee. they let me know which dates, birthdays, events etc they want reminding on and then I send a reminder to their mobile. I'm in Singapore and will need a Chinese and English application to send to the mobiles.
I would also like to do minimal administration so is there a way that after the registrants have registered their dates then the system takes over and sends out reminders automatically?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hope you have completed your project. It would be of great help if you could give some details of how you have set up the SMS Gateway.

    Thanks in advance
