    Does anyone know?

Using XP, is there a way to check if a drive is set to utilize DMA? I have been locking for this for several days. In Win 98 there was a block to check in the properties for the drive. My system tested significantly faster with DMA utilization authorized.

Go to device manager. (right click My Computer and select properties,on the Hardware tab hit the Device manager button).

Expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers tree and double click the IDE channel for your drive. On the Advanced Settings tab it will show you what transfer mode your drives are using.
