    re. dailer.exe in windows 2000

    Hallo,
I have a problem with the dailer.exe in windows 2000. In the first days tis program reacted inmedeatly when I started to dial. Now after I have installed much more software of other kind the dialer.exe takes 10 to 15 seconds before it reacts.
Anyone can tell me how adjust? Or is there any other dialer program what I can use with access 97 to dial a number form a access program form that integrates a number from access?

    Thanks for reacting.

are you looking at pornography with this dialer.exe program?

Have a look at this consumer affairs watch link below:
    http://www.consumeraffairs.com/scam_alerts/dialer.html

Just wondering as when I did a search 99% of the posts were geared towards this app being installed, which disconnects you from your provider, and dials a very expensive connection number that is then billed to your next months telephone bill.

Are you sure you want this program to run? what does it do? Where did you get the program from? Is it native to windows 2000?

by the way, welcome to TZ.

I have to agree with BB.

EDIT There is a "dialer.exe" in the C:\Program Files\Windows NT folder, at least on this pc with XP Pro and according to what's below it is in Win2000

TAPI 3.0 Dialer and IP Multicast Conference Viewer

    Something found HERE

Another tech took a look at the machine and says he thinks its not working because the modem is not a voice modem. I'm not sure why that should make a difference since the talking is being done on a regular phone and only the dialing is going through the modem but I guess its possible.

In any event, the guy bought a new modem and it seems to be working now. I haven't been down there yet but they tell me its working so I guess that solved the problem

Something may have messed up the dialer.ini.

Well I just learned something. Even Xp has this dialer.exe app.

I don't think 2K has a system restore, at least I don't recall one.. that would have been my suggestion here.

You could try a system file check for windows 2K.

have you installed any other programs or hardware lately?

Thor's link and advice seems spot on.

    dailer 2k

First of all thanks Big Booger and Thor,

I am using the dialer program to dial tel numbers from my self made address book in access database program. In windows 98 my program worked good with the dialer windows 98 had. But I recently changed to windows2000 and 2k has a different dialer which is called up by acces. It took 10 seconds before it functions. The aim is that the dialer dials through a modem on the tel line. When the connection is made I pick up the horn of the phone and can talk.
No searching is needed anymore. I found a solution on the web.
I found a functioning dailer on the following webside: http://members.rogers.com/phonedialerpro/ and the program is phone dial pro version 4. This one spontanious was able to call in to functioning by my access program and it is replacing the 2k versions.
    So my need is fullfilled.
    Thanks for thinking with me.
