Dell is looking to break out of the computer rut and readying lines of television sets, digital music players and an online music service.

Michael Dell, chief executive of the nation's largest PC maker, announced Thursday that all of Dell's new consumer electronics lines will be released this fall and be available in time for the holidays.

"We are expanding our product offerings and enhancing Dell.com, and doing it in time for the holiday buying period so important to consumers," he said.

The computer maker isn't yet revealing details on the new products, including their pricing. Competitor Gateway already offers similar lines of electronic equipment.

Dell said it will launch a Dell flat-panel television Oct. 21.

The set's tuner will allow viewers to watch regular programs, stream video, play games or use PC applications.

Also to come is the Dell Digital Jukebox.
