Putting desktop icons where I want
My Windows 2000 HELP menu under the heading: "Active Desktop Overview" reads "Lock decktop items" secures size and location of active desktop. When the 'Lock desktop items' is selected active desktop icons cannot be moved or resized.
However, I find that even if "lock desktop icons" is UNCHECKED I cannot position said icons where I want. When I drag them and release the mouse button, they just pop back to where they were.
Other than rebooting or reinstalling 2000, what are some things I can try?

Shut off auto arrange. and then you should be able to place them any where you like.
