Well try doing the search again with just 1 anti-virus and 1 firewall running. I'm sure you can deactivate either 1 of them temporarily without having to uninstall.

Temporarily disable the AV, firewall, and any other background program.

Then run search, and if it freezes wait for about 10-20 minutes until it unfreezes.

Then shut off the search companion. To do that click the "change preferences" option in the window on the left of the search screen.

    Then click search:

    "WITHOUT AN ANIMATED Screen CHARACTER"

It could be that the character is slowing down your PC causing the freezing.

One thing, what are your system specs?

Also try click the WINDOWS KEY, and F for a file search. and the Windows Key + F1 for a "my computer" search.

What else do you have running on that particular machine?

Also did you try the windows key + the F key? What result did you find?

How did you disable the dog, if you can't get into the search program itself?

biker666_05 you need to do as Conan suggest. Backup your data and see if you can get one of those $49 80gig hard drive's at Best Buy, also one more stick of ram will do wonders for your puter

At the least you should reinstall Windows, Mcafee and Zonealarm install deep into your system and even if you uninstall them they leave parts that can cause problems. Plus you don't know what that virus really did but it seems that you have some bad problem after the fact.

Use AVG anti-virus and Sygate firewall, you can get both for free and they work excellent plus if you unistall them they do a clean job.

    Keep in touch
