    Win98se install

I finally got a copy of Win98se, I want to install over my existing Win98 1st ed.

    Questions:

    1) Can I just install over the existing 98 (i.e. will it overwrite) ?
    - if so will it save my personal files ?
    - if not what is the best approach to accomplishing this ?

I know the easy answer is to copy my files 1st, but I don't even know all
of them, and I have some additional programs I'd like to keep like MS access ..

It "should" work fine. A dirty install of 98 was always less than perfect but you can try...Always, always, always backup as much as you can before trying...

what rik said....back up and go for it. going from 98 to se is basically like installing a service pack.

best thing would be to install it from a clean cd(formatting) and then installing it. if it is an upgrade cd when it asks for qualifying os just pop in your win98 cd and point it to there and your set. This is how I would install it personally.
