My Dad wanted another computer for him to learn to use in the house so I gave him my old PC set-up (P4 2.6 ghz and MSI 865 mobo) and I sprang for some new stuff.
First is the case, its a Thermaltake Xaser III V1000D Super Tower. It's a beautiful looking case with 7 fans and a temperature LCD monitor. It's a bit heavy though.
Then I got 1 gig of Twinmos Twister DDR400. The store didn't have 512mb modules so I got 4 x 256mb. I got one defective module though, so I went back to the store and ran memtest86 until I got a good one.
Then I got a new P4 3.0 ghz multi-threading 800fsb processor. I used my Asus P4P800 motherboard (which was in storage while I was using my MSI board).
I'm still using my crappy Geforce FX 5600 video card. I almost picked up an FX 5900 the other day (cause it was relatively cheap) but it was a really tight fit (the store tested it) with the Asus board so I didn't get it. I guess I'll save up a bit and go for a Radeon 9800 Pro.
For power I got an Enermax 420 watt power supply. I also got a LiteOn 52x32x52 CD writer. They don't give you any free CD-R's anymore!
I took some pics with my camera phone, I'll post them later on when I'm home.
