    Question need some linux advice!

I'm thinking about turning one of my boxes into a linux box... however I'll have to say that I have limited informtion and knowhow on linux thus far... whats everyones opinion on which distro I should go with? I'd prefer something with a decent amount of hardware support (doesn't have to be the best) but something that I could learn a bit more about the linux os in general.

There are many versions of Linux out there. We use Redhat where I work. I also have it on my home network. The latest free version of RedHat is called Fedorah. http://fedora.redhat.com/

LinuxHQ is a good place to start: www.linuxhq.com.

    As always, google for Linux.

I'm a Linux noob also but I'm told that Mandrake 9.2 is a good one to start on or Suse also. Some good info over at The Screensavers website....http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/linux/

SUSE?? You want poor Carddriver to go nuts??
    HEHE
Suse is by far the best one, but it is for advance users. If he is asking for advice in which is better, then he is not an advance users.
    In order of user friendly
    Red Hat-Fedora
    Mandrake
    Suse
    Slackware
Red Hat Fedora has a good compromise between easy to use, user friendly and advance tools, so it is recomended.
Mandrake is in the middle, but between the 2 of them I would chose Fedora
Suse is already like the profesional, only for advance users. A lot more advance tools and posibilities.
If you just want to experiencie Linux, why not start practicing inside Windows??
Use Cygwin. I dare you to have an X enviroment running that is not X11
I use Cygwin to connect at home, so I can use ssh. (if anybody knows how to do a remote connections thru ssh in windows let me know)

If your going to learn on Linux you might as well jump in the frying pan and start with the best, Gentoo

If you don't have a fast internet connection PM me your address and I'll send you a bunch of Linux Distros, I have most all of them
