I would have thought Hotmail's virus checker would have picked up that one first! Sure it's not a false positive?

It looks like he is using Outlook to connect to HOTMAIL, so downloading directly to PC, so I think the internal hotmail checker doesnt work in this case ??

But its good that Lynch has real-time and email monitoring turned on

Perhaps, depends on the access method the AV uses, but also how many actual files you have to scan.

NAV would do a whole system scan in about an hour.

Kaspersky scans every single file, even password protected compressed files on the system.

Norton only scans what it considers "infectable" or "at risk" files. (though I think you can change it to scan every file).

Kaspersky takes a long time, but after the scan you can rest assured that your system is clean.

Doesn't NAV scan everything and within compressed files?

Nav doesn't do password protected Zip or Rar files.

I scanned my PC with NAV NOD32, and AVG, and it never came up.

Kappy asks for the password of files from Spybot and other password protected app files. There are many password protected files in spybotSD. Since I don't know the password, I have to skip the archive.
