    Formatting XP from upgrade????

    Hello guys,

Once again, I call on your wisdom for help.

How the heck do I format a machine with XP on it and its been installed from an upgrade cd? Yep, gotta do the double install thing.......

This guy has sooooooooooooooooooooo many trojans on his machine it is NOT funny. His cable company, nor any of his friends told him to get a firewall. YIKES!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I need help, don't know how to do it, twas easy with 98, but can't seem to get to a dos prompt or screen to format.

    Thanks much!

    Sharon

    Try this link:http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/clean.htm

The instructions seem to be complete fairly easy to follow. Hope this helps.

Usually the XP CD is bootable. Just restart and got to boot menu. Then boot from the CD. The CD will load but not in windows. You can reformatting through setup. During install, setup will as for a CD of the previous OS version.
