Saving OE attachments
I want to format my C drive (which has become intolerably slow) and reinstall windows from scratch. Having done this with my laptop already, I realized too late that though I'd backed up all the email directories, I hadn't backed up all the attachments to the emails. Is there any way for me to do this before I wipe the C drive? Can I restore them in a way that will allow the restored emails to access them?
Many thanks,
Joe

How many attachments do you have?
You can copy them to a CD, USB stick, etc.

If you've backed up the emails and the attachments are still attached, there shouldn't be any problems. Also, if these are just mirrors of (say) Hotmail directories, format:c won't erase any of the contents. Just did that myself, and everything was still there.
Last night, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I'll never know.

With my laptop, the attachments were all in separate directories with names composed of lots of random letters -- these got erased when i formatted the hard drive. I've got more than 5000 emails -- I'd hate to have to save each attachment separately!

The attachments should still be attached to the original emails.
