windows media player problem
Hi,
My windows media player 9.0 for xp is not working (opening) all of a sudden. I have windows xp pro. When I try to open WMP it says there is an internal application error has occured. l ready tried to reinstall it and it did not work.
What should I do?

with that error is there any other info that you can give us also if you have your xp cd...go to start run and type sfc /scannow. that command will rewrite any corrupt xp sys files.

Did you reboot after reinstalling it?

I did reboot and i tried to scan for errors. It's still not working.
Any other suggestions?

Did you try deleting the folder before re-installing???
Uninstall, then delete the folder X:\Program Files\Windows Media Player (where X is your system drive, usually C)
and then re-install

I agree with Dehc. Delete the WMP folder and re-install WMP9 (get it from MS website).
Alt. try to System Restore to a point where you are sure it was working.

if you backed up files before you installed the windows media player 9 edition, you can go back to the original version that was released with XP.
If none of that works, including DEHC's suggestion, you can always try a system restore, if possible.
