Just copy the following file:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\PROFILENAME\bookmarks.html

And pop it back when needed.

Or open up FireFox -> Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks. Within the MB window click File -> Export and choose a place to save the file.

I'm surprised many of you didn't know this as it is the same way you backup favourites in IE.

In IE, I backup the C: Documents and Settings/username/Favorites folder using Windows Explorer.

also, there is the BookMark Backup extension.

http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=13

Quote:

Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder.

Yeah, that's probably the 1st thing one would think of instead of going to File > Import and Export

Maybe is lame, but have you tried to import them in The Manage Bookmarks window from your old bookmark.html file?
