Stop the Spies

http://www.fasttrackmovies.com/forum...?TOPIC_ID=4339

That effectively lists all the major ISPs, and antipiracy groups that want to end P2P sharing. If you don't want them to invade your privacy, simply add all of those IP's to your firewall, or to Peer Guardian:
an be found at the link below:
http://xsclient.cjb.net/pg.htm

Seems to work rather effectively. Just remember to run it when you use Kazaa, Emule, Direct Connect, Morpheus, Grokster. etc...

Also, just minimize it, don't close it as you will stop the program from running. It minimizes to the system tray.
You will see a little orange hand in the tray. That is the Peer Guardian application.

Just some info on stopping the prying eyes.

Thanks

what about that nasty little booger(no offense boogs) Xupiter. the built in spyware on the new ver of grokster. you can not del the spyware using adaware because then grokster will not operate and gives you an error saying you uninstalled components and needs to be reinstalled. So I finally move to kazaa lite.

Phish,
I think you misunderstand the meaning of this program.

Peer Guardian blocks the IP addresses of companies that scan your share looking for copyright violations. When they find one, they send a letter to your ISP requesting that you either remove the offending content, or you be disconnected from the internet.

This program effectively blocks their IPs so that they cannot scan your files and send you those cease and desist letters...

Thereby making it nearly impossible for them to pin point you for file sharing.

Peer Guardian does nothing to stop spyware. It is an IP blocker only, and it blocks many of the main ANTI-Piracy companies like the RIAA, mediaforce, AOL, etc...
from snooping you out.

If there are any mistakes that I have made in this post please use my E-mail address: Greenguy407@hotmail.com to inform me of the mistakes because TFO will not allow posts other than IP addresses in here!!

First Post!!

RANGERINC:

216.122.215.13
216.122.0.0 - 216.122.255.255
216.122.204.0 - 216.122.223.255

(Block with: 216.122.*.*) (rangerinc uses a broad range of IP's)

MEDIA FORCE:

65.217.219.192 - 65.217.219.223
4.43.96.0 - 4.43.96.255

(Block with: 65.217.219.* and 4.43.96.*)

CYVEILLANCE:

65.118.41.192 - 65.118.41.223

AOL/WARNER MUSIC GROUP:

216.52.242.0 - 216.52.242.255

(Block with: 216.52.242.*)

ADDED: For those that don't know, the asterik (*) denotes a wildcard, and tells the application to block all numbers within that range.

ADDED: If a p2p client also gives the option to add a "Netmask" with the IP range, use the following: (Shareaza for one does this)

255.255.0.0 or 255.255.*.*

DANGEROUS IP UPDATES: (3 August 2002)

The following IP's are an update/addition to the above listing. (Quite a few, thanks to ocinius.. They were compiled from sources in other forums. NOTE: Several of the below ranges might cover a wider range than necessary, (its hard to narrow some of them down) however, personally I would rather inadvertantly block a few innocent IP's than to miss any of the bad ones. Use your own discretion....

RANGERINC:

204.92.244.208
204.92.244.223

(Block with: 204.92.244.*)

MEDIA FORCE:

BayTSP:

209.204.128.0
209.204.191.255

(Block with: 209.204.128.* and 209.204.191.*)

VIDIUS: Update NET PD has same ranges

207.155.128.0
207.155.255.255

(Block with: 207.155.128.* and 207.155.255.*)

OVERPEER:

65.160.0.0
65.174.255.255
65.160.127.0 - 65.160.127.255

(Block with: 65.160.0.* and 65.174.255.* and 65.160.127.*)

* Below are some of the "Spoofers/Spoilers" that have been identified: (Ones that have been known to flood the networks with fake files and may also be harvesting IP's)

NetPD: Update Net PD and Vidius have the same ranges.

207.155.128.0
207.155.255.255
128.241.0.0
128.241.255.255

(Block with: 207.155.128.* and 207.155.255.* and 128.241.0.* and 128.241.255.*)

MediaDefender

UPDATE:The below underlined numbers are wrong just block ranges.

64.225.292.40
66.79.0.0
66.79.95.255
66.79.10.0 - 66.79.10.255

(Block with: 64.225.292.* and 66.79.0.* and 66.79.95.* and 66.79.10.*)

MPAA:

63.199.57.120
63.199.57.127
64.166.187.144
64.166.187.151
198.70.114.0 - 198.70.114.255
209.67.0.0 - 209.67.255.255

Block with: 63.199.57.* and 64.166.187.* and 198.70.114.* and 209.67.0.* and 209.67.255.*)

RIAA:

208.192.0.0
208.255.255.255
208.225.90.0 - 208.225.90.255
12.150.191.0 - 12.150.191.255

(Block with: 208.192.0.* and 208.255.255.* and 208.225.90.* and 12.150.191.*)

DANGEROUS IP UPDATES: (24 August 2002)

The following IP's are an update/addition to the above listing. As always they are provided as a guide and each user should consider their use depending on the desired level of security.

BayTSP:

209.122.130.0
209.204.130.0
209.204.130.255

(Block with: 209.122.130.0 and 209.204.130.0 and 209.204.130.255) or if you are concerned that intermediant ranges are being used in the 209.204.130.* address you could use 209.204.130.* to block a wider coverage. The disadvantage to this is that some innocent IP's might be blocked.

[b]Unknown C&D Cop:

64.106.170.128
64.106.170.135
64.106.170.137

(Block with: 64.106.170.128 and 64.106.170.135 and 64.106.170.137) NOTE: There has been at least one report of the last octlet (number) changing frequently in this address range, therefore you might consider using 64.106.170.* to cover a wider range. As stated above, the disadvantage to this is that some innocent IP's might be blocked.

NOTE: All subsequent updates will be added to this thread as a running list to make it easier to maintain and understand.

NOTE: It should be noted that some of the suggested ranges to block are rather broad. However, in some cases it is not known if the offending IP's are using other addresses within the range. A drawback to using a broader range is that subsequent innocent IP's might be inadvertantly blocked. The blocked ranges are only a suggestion. Each user that desires to use the information can tailor it to their own specific needs and desired level of security.

[b]Guys please remember to only place IP addresses in this folder no unecessary chat, Please if you have anything to report or updates please email me to submit Greenguy407@hotmail.com

OOPS,
Sorry I forgot that you had to register.. I registered hehehe

I use peer guardian because it was designed for that. BUt I guess using a firewall application would accomplish the same thing.

With peer guardian, most of the Ips are already entered. YOu just have to update the ones that are not listed.

The developer, will continue to work more on Peer Guardian in the spring. He is currently working on XSclient, a direct Connect application.

Hopefully he will add support for automatic IP updates for the latest Anti-Piracy groups. that would be very convenient.

Over here in this page, they have DAT files which you can import directly to Sygate:

http://www.zbl.ieplugins.com/downloads.htm

It contains a comprehensive list of IP's to block.

Peer Guardian - Page Not Found!

Hi Guys,

Just read about Peer Guardian, would love to d/l and even pay....however, it says page not found? Is there somewhere else I can get it and the updates for it?

Would love to simply download and update rather than add all those IP's in to NPF, any ideas?

Thanks,
Sharon

It doesn't update automatically you have to manually add IP's. That program is still an Alpha, it could get better later on.
