Faster System without XP themes

I have noticed a huge improvement in overall responsiveness of my PC after disabling the XP theme by going through the performance tweak in my computer properties and using the setting "adjust for best performance".

It is done wonders for my machine and I am just tired of the XP default theme.. Good bye default theme, hello classic

Sorry gents for some reason when I ran a repair this thread was deleted.

I have most of my visual effects settings turned off but themes and dropshadows for desktop text.

I remember when XP first came out and people's PC's weren't too powerful then, this was a common suggestion. It makes it look like Windows 2000.

I've always used the classic look for the start menu and windows folders.Much easier to navigate IMHO.

I'm playing around with WB for the first time - I thought it was going to be an anchor - I was wrong - it's pretty snappy.

Although i'm not completely sold on WB - it's a nice feature that you can skin per application only if you want. The rest is classic windows.

I'm really likin Window Blinds and Icon Packager... I would prefer having 1 app like Style XP to be able to perform the same functions as these with the same results but at this point I find more options for the Object Desktop apps. LK we really need to keep the Desktop/Icon thread active and get some of these other "Fuds" into it.

It's hard because my desk is always a mess working on themes. I guess I can hide all icons.
