Can`t Maximize Internet Explorer

I`ve just installed Ms Encarta 2004 & after installing this i`ve discovered that i can`t maximize my IE.Infact when I maximize it,it turns into a restore state.
Does anyone knows that how can I get it right.

Try enlarging the browser window by stretching out the sides, top and bottom with your mouse.

IE is notorious for maximisation errors..well on my system at least ;)

I recommend following Conan's advice, then close down the IE Window. Providing that it was the only IE window open, all the subsequent IE windows you open will remain at that size. :)

This will only change the initial restore size but can`t help me changing the maximize option.

I'm wondering if Internet Explorer can be repaired in XP. One used to be able to go to Add/Remove in the Control Panel, select remove for Internet Explorer and get several options one of which was Repair.

I've only tken it so far as Add/Remove..........Add/Remove Windows Components and am leery of going any farther to check it out.

Something that may or may not help.

Method 2: Edit the Registry and Install Internet Explorer 6
1.. While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then
click Run.
2.. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3.. Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the
IsInstalled (REG DWORD) value, and then click Modify. To reinstall only
the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP, use the
following registry key:

To reinstall only Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP, use the following

By default, Internet Explorer 6 is preinstalled in all versions of
Windows XP and cannot be uninstalled. To provide computer manufacturers
more flexibility in configuring desktop versions of Windows XP,

Explorer code intact and fully functional to make sure the functionality

I just noticed :smash: This is for 98 or ME so first upgrade IE to the latest version and if that doesn't work then go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/ Add/Remove/Internet Explorer. Highlight IE, click Remove and the Repair option should be there. Got so used to XP I forget about 98 etc.

Seemed like reinstalling IE 6 will might work.But first I`ve to find a CD from where I can Install it as I can`t afford a large download caze of DUN.So I`ll try by reinstalling it.
Hope this`ll work.
I`ll tell U the results tomorrow.

Have you tried the Repair option yet? I've had mixed results with it but it's worth a try.

Wow,I`ve got my problem solved without doing anything (don`t know how).
I just set the restore window initial size to maximum by using Conan`s advice but infact added a bit of my own,ie.Just opened a single browser window & streched it to maximum & then by holding down the Ctrl key Closed the browser window through File>Close.
& donno wat happened & when I restarted my PC the next day & used IE,got it absolutely perfect.
