Thanks -
Just did a reinstall of XP and everything is working fine except a problem of shut down.
It will not shut down / restart on its own and I get a message
" is is safer to shut down now"
Any help to fix this will be appreciated.
Go to control panel > power options. On the APM tab,if you have one, tick "Enable Advanced Power Management support." Then click apply.
Now try and shutdown.
Thanks
any suggestions for Norton problems ?
Have you tried the corporate version of NAV? Also you might give McAfee a shot. Or you could go the freebie route and get AVG at the site below:

Just some ideas.

Thanks again > I have tried all versions but they just fail to load. I am using McAfee but loved Norton when it was functioning.
Have you trying installing Norton again after you re-installed XP?
If you still have problems I would suspect that your copy of Norton is not good, and for that reaosn is not working.
I had to fix once a problem, where an instalation of Norton got stuck in the rebooting and that completely messed up the registry. For example, I could install Norton again without it detecting there was already Norton running. And if I went to the control panel>Add/Remove programs nothing would be listed there ;)
That was a problem from Norton that gave this person an update for Norton, when he needed the full product.
Anyway, it shoudl install well now in your PC, right?
Thanks - My PC is runnning fine and its shut down / restart problems have been fixed without doing anything. will try to reinstall Norton and see how it goes.
Best Regards
Just in case, create a restore point. So if the instalation goes worng, you can roll it back :D
[Many Thanks again : will do that for sure !!
