repair tries to keep your drivers.
restoring the disc image is the same as formatting in my books :)
Are you certain that you did not have this problem with a fresh copy of Windows?
If you are going to restore the disc image can you please uninstall all the drivers and software to see if you can discover what the culprit is?

Looks like Drive image is worthless. I tried to boot with DI boot disks but get the same response - stuck on loading. I'll go into safe mode and uninstall Office then.
Drive Image says it does not work in safe mode so.............
LOL! Says I can't uninstall Office in safe mode! I am really stuck now.
I have no choice but to:
1. throw computer off balcony
2. take a vacation from computer
3. set computer on fire
4. reformat and have to configure my pc all over again (and lose stuff I forgot to save) - :(

It has happened to me. Always at the same point in the installation.
I kept trying until it finally went past the trouble spot.
Cannot uninstall Office 2003 in safe mode.

LK you say that you can't boot up the Drive Image floppies and install your image ? don't sound right cuz the floppy doesn't boot to safe mode to install image :confused:
Hey I just got my Raptor HD's and I need to format and start over to set up Raid, so maybe we can format together 2,000 miles away ? What do you think ? pick a time that we start......
Or you can get the Drive Image floppies working ;)

I never said that I was trying to boot to safe mode with DI boot disks. I said that I can boot to safe mode. The boot disk will not go past the normal loading screen. I am reformating now but made the mistake of leaving files as is. So now I have old files and program files in there. Do I need to do this over and choose reformat NTFS?

Well, hopefully a reformat will fix you up Lynch. This has been a mystery indeed.
If the repair failed to fix the problem, then I'd say it was something beyond just an OS problem.. another program more than likely was causing the issue.. or it was hardware related like an actually memory or hard drive issue.
I was going to mention to run a chkdsk /f command.. to check the disk and fix any problems..
But with a reformat that should do it for you. Let us know how it turns out.
I vote for these...but not in the same order...

Try in the order of #3, then 1, then 2.
3. Film setting computer on fire,send copy to Techzonez for viewing.Just J/King Lynch.:D
Sorry you guys did not get to see the fireworks show.
I'm almost up to date. Nice thing was there was a driver image in drive D - so I was able to install games and apps using files from program files and application data.
Anyway, should I not install office 2003 - should there be an update for it addressing the problem soon. Should I install office XP instead? (actually,all I need is word and excel)
Office XP works so good that you don't need to keep up with the Jones ;)
I had to do a complete format & clean install, the Raptor HD wouldn't take my Drive Image....
These people were experiencing problems with the Beta but most of us here are using Final. So the errors have carried over to Final?Quote:
