Here's a neat little tool for checking what serial you used when installing XP.
It may come in handy. ;)
thanks to Bink

Yeah i get the Exception error on the first viewer in certain XP computers, both SP1 and SP2...
Does the jellyBean viewer work for Corporate Version, might have to try it out at work. Cheers.
Thanks for magicjelly bean link - very handy indeed.
errr, a little late to the party.
I have a even better one ROCK XP 3.0
not only retrieves serial for XP, but also for any MS aplication, Internet Explorer password, RAS, and it is a password generator.
I recently used it and saved me a bunch, because I forgot the password for one of my hotmail accounts, since I always check the email using OE, but I got the password from OE thru this util. A MUST

I have Xp and 98 on my computer
but i hace lost EVERYTHING on my Xp(fornatted)
i got a Xp disk , but the sticker has fallen off(cough cough), and i cant get my code ,
help pleasse
Had you not hosed the OS I might have had a solution:
However because you formatted, I think you are screwed. The serial is held separate from the OS. THe disk doesn't contain serial information, if it did every hacker in the world would be jumping into that disk and finding serials left and right.Quote:
Boot up in a parallel copy of XP.
Open REGEDIT
If the information you want to access was in HKEY_CURRENT_USER: Highlight HKEY_USERS, choose "Load hive" from the File menu, open
C:\Documents and settings\<UserProfileName>\ntuser.dat.
When asked for a name, choose "OldProfile" (or whatever other easily remembered name you choose). Access/backup the keys you're interested in. Once you're done, highlight the "OldProfile" key, choose "Unload hive" from the file menu.
If the information you want to access was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System or in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software: Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, choose "Load hive" from the File menu, open
C:\Windows\system32\config\system
or
C:\Windows\system32\config\software
(no extension). When asked for a name, choose "OldSystem" or "OldSoftware" (or whatever). Access/backup the keys you're interested in. Once you're done, highlight the "OldSystem" or "OldSoftware" key, choose "Unload hive" from the file menu.
YOu might have some luck with Microsoft and their technical support.. but other than that, I'd say hit up your local software store and throw down some cash. :D
im ok now, so thanks anyway
